Synopsis
The episode opens up as SpongeBob wakes up one morning, figuring out that it's Sunday, and makes a decision to have an ice cream "sundae" for breakfast. However, he sees he has no ice cream and finds usual toppings like bananas and cherries to be blasé, so he instead creates a new form of sundae constituted of onions, ketchup, and the contents of a just about dead potted peanut plant. Unbeknownst to SpongeBob, the results of eating the sundae is intense halitosis.
"You know what they say, Gary, I'm easy like Sunday morning."
After breakfast, SpongeBob starts his Sunday to-do record, which is composed of claiming "Hi!" to everyone on the town. Unfortunately, the townspeople are universally disgusted by way of the scent of SpongeBob's rancid breath and run clear of him. SpongeBob may be very at a loss for words by way of this, and asks Patrick if he notices anything unsuitable with him. Patrick, now not having a nose, can not discern the foul odor. After operating down a listing of probabilities, Patrick concludes that SpongeBob is solely ugly. SpongeBob is dismayed by way of this revelation and isolates himself in his house.
Later, Patrick visits SpongeBob, who has resigned to transform a hermit. Patrick tells SpongeBob the story of The Ugly Barnacle, which fails to cheer him up. Patrick then encourages him to show pride in his ugliness. It works, and SpongeBob's self belief grows, so they decide to head see a movie at the Reef Cinema.
As they take their seats, all of the movie-goers nonetheless attempt to steer clear of SpongeBob, which angers Patrick and sends him into a tirade. Patrick forces the other audience to look at SpongeBob. With each and every word SpongeBob speaks, the audience panic and flee, quickly leaving no person in the auditorium. Patrick gets hungry, in order that they cross to the lobby to buy a snack. However, no person is on the counter. Instead, SpongeBob pulls a few of his sundaes out of his pocket and gives them to Patrick. After eating them, Patrick feels a surprising urge to make use of the toilet.
While washing his fingers, Patrick asks a fish subsequent to him for some soap, however he temporarily runs away. Upon finding no one will keep inside of his neighborhood, Patrick fears he has caught "the ugly" from SpongeBob and hides in a stall with a paper bag over his head.
"We stink! We stink! We stink! We stink! We stink! We stink!"
Eventually, SpongeBob smells Patrick's extremely foul breath and tries to tell the rambling Patrick prior to shouting at him to get his consideration. He then tells Patrick that it is not his appearance, however his breath which stinks, much to Patrick's aid. SpongeBob then asks what he ate, after being advised it used to be the sundae SpongeBob made. The latter realizes that they are not unpleasant, but simply have dangerous breath from the sundae.
Immensely relieved their appearance used to be now not the issue, the 2 begin to run around shouting, "We stink!", causing their noxious breath to melt down the theater. SpongeBob and Patrick run into Squidward, looking at wigs in a window display. SpongeBob cries out in joy, "Guess what, Squidward? We stink!" as they hug him, leaving Squidward staring blankly as SpongeBob and Patrick start working away giggling and cheering.
Running gags People running away when SpongeBob talks due to his terrible breath.

Trivia
General In airing order, that is the primary SpongeBob SquarePants episode of Season 2 and the primary to be animated with digital coloring. Patrick mentions that he does no longer have a sister on this episode. However, this is later proven false by way of the episode "Big Sister Sam," where he's indeed printed to have a sister. This is likely due to his stupidity, since he forgets who his oldsters are in "I'm with Stupid," and simplest recalls them when his faux parents discuss with themselves as Marty and Janet, while his real parents are Margie and Herb Star. Patrick's new "Z" shaped eyebrows first seemed in "Your Shoe's Untied" when "Loop de Loop" is playing in the phase where Patrick will get a shoe as a scoop of ice cream. But this is the primary episode where Patrick's "Z" shaped eyebrows made their first main look, instead of his unique sideways "M" shaped eyebrows from season 1. In this episode, it is only a temporary alternate, the place as in maximum of "Your Shoe's Untied" and "Big Pink Loser," he had his authentic sideways "M" formed ones, even though they are season 2 episodes. However, it will grow to be an enduring alternate in "Wormy." In the audio commentary at the season 2 DVD, it's discussed on the end of this episode that Squidward had a deleted line. After SpongeBob and Patrick hug him and run away, he would say "Ugly and smelly, two for one," however it was once lower because of the whole screen fading to black at the finish. This is the primary episode that Aaron Springer and C.H. Greenblatt worked on in combination, as mentioned within the audio observation. This is also the first episode written through Greenblatt. At the beginning of the episode's audio remark, it's published that the episode was in the beginning going initially SpongeBob going out to buy every gallon of ice cream in town and he did not know the brand of ice cream he bought used to be onion; he then eats it and will get unhealthy breath. But they later decided that he would make his sundae with ketchup, raw onions, and peanut crops with filth. The giant calendar that SpongeBob is flung into by his mattress firstly is a gag reused from "Boating School." "My leg!:" The marching band will get annoyed with the stench of SpongeBob's breath when they stumble upon buildings that they got thrown into. This is the primary episode to play "Dangerous C." This episode has a gorgeous high kill depend: Norton's body layers fall apart. SpongeBob's mirrored image commits suicide via smashing himself with a hammer. Two fish dedicate suicide by means of reeling themselves up with a hook. SpongeBob causes a automobile to explode, killing the motive force. SpongeBob's unhealthy breath causes two fish to move belly-up within the movie theater. Another fish will get her face destroyed by way of SpongeBob's breath. There is a web based recreation in keeping with this episode titled Stinky Swagger. French name card. In the French dub, the background for the name card is the very same background from "Big Pink Loser." Innuendo: SpongeBob screaming "I'm ugly and I'm proud!", adopted via Squidward replying, "Is that what he calls it?" German title card. In the German dub, the background for the identify card is the exact same background from "The Smoking Peanut." This episode marks the first time that a "Steel Licks" track plays. This is the primary episode where "Chief Taravana" plays within the standard pitch. Recently, Patrick's line "Maybe it's the way you're dressed?" become a meme, due to a snippet of the audio (the 'a' portion in 'Maybe') sounding similar to the dialogue audio used for Sans within the RPG game Undertale. After Patrick shouts "I want all of you to look at it!", apparently everyone abandons the theater, leaving it completely empty. However, later, when Patrick goes to the bathroom, people are still there. It is conceivable they are lucky sufficient to not smell the unhealthy breath. In this episode, Patrick is not able to discern SpongeBob's rancid breath as a result of he does no longer have a nostril, which also comes into play in "No Nose Knows." However, he used to be in a position to sniff with no nostril in some episodes such as "Rock-a-Bye Bivalve," and has a small nostril in "Wet Painters" and "That's No Lady," while he used to be in a position to develop a nose in "The Battle of Bikini Bottom."Cultural references After SpongeBob finishes his sundae, he says to Gary, "You know what they say, Gary... I'm easy like Sunday morning," which is a reference to the chorus of The Commodores' 1977 song "Easy." The shot with SpongeBob enjoying the organ and wearing a masks is a reference to The Phantom of the Opera. The Ugly Barnacle is a connection with The Ugly Duckling through Hans Christian Andersen. The glasses SpongeBob wears in this episode are a parody of Groucho Marx.Errors Should be written as "Edgar Larrazábal." Edgar Larrazábal spelled correctly in later reruns. In the outlet credit, when Edgar Larrazábal is credited as an animation director, his title is misspelled as Larrazabla. This error was once fixed in later airings of this episode and the iTunes model. In one shot, SpongeBob has sleeves. In the following shot, they disappear. After SpongeBob goes from his bedroom to his kitchen to make the sundae, when he opens the door, his bedroom wallpaper is shown instead of his lounge; SpongeBob's bed room isn't positioned subsequent to his kitchen. When SpongeBob opens the giant ketchup bottle and squeezes it into his sundae bowl, his right hand is on backwards. Once SpongeBob squeezes the large ketchup bottle into the bowl, steam is shown coming out of the ketchup. This is wrong, as ketchup never has steam. When SpongeBob is making the sundae, the peanut plant vase that he throws in adjustments route between pictures. When SpongeBob walks to Patrick when Patrick is on the bench, Patrick's legs are lacking. In all Nickelodeon/Nicktoons USA, Nick@Nite and UK airings of this episode and the iTunes model, SpongeBob walks as much as a development and says, "Hi, building!" which reasons the development to flee from SpongeBob's breath. He goes as much as Patrick and says, "I just don't get it!" and Patrick says, "I don't either." However, on all DVD releases, the Nautical Nonsense and Undersea Antics Volume 1 VHS tapes, the Nick Scene It? DVD game, Canadian airings on YTV and Nickelodeon Canada, Polish airings, and Australian airings, the scene as a substitute is going like this: SpongeBob: [walks as much as a construction and waves] I simply don't get it! [the building flees] Patrick: [off-screen] I do not, both. [SpongeBob walks as much as Patrick; the remainder of the scene goes as normal, leading to the same lines being repeated]. According to the audio statement at the season 2 DVD, this was a sound mixing error. The tune also repeats itself incorrectly at that point. It is made evident since SpongeBob's mouth nonetheless obviously says the meant line. However, the closed-captioning on the Nautical Nonsense and Sponge Buddies and Season 2 DVDs still use the unique proper line. But on The First 100 Episodes DVD, the closed-captioning has been updated to compare the flawed audio. When Patrick sees SpongeBob in his area, playing the organ, SpongeBob has a mask on, however after SpongeBob turns round and Patrick lifts him, the masks is gone. Duplicate fishes. At Reef Cinema: Multiple replica fish may also be noticed: When the duo walks into some of the stadium rooms, the same few fish are duplicated. When Patrick says "Look at it!", two blue Incidental 1 models and two Incidental 6 models will also be seen. When SpongeBob and Patrick input a stadium: There are six seats in keeping with row, but a couple of seconds earlier than SpongeBob and Patrick sit down, there seems to be extra seats per row. It is in a wide-shot, and Tom is subsequent to the pink fish, Harold. However, a couple seconds earlier than SpongeBob and Patrick get to Harold, he's sitting subsequent to the red-haired fish. Also, upon arriving, almost every seat has any person in it, but when SpongeBob will get to the entrance row, very few seats are stuffed. SpongeBob and Patrick first sit within the entrance row. But later, when Patrick lifts SpongeBob, they look like in the center row. Two fishes within the background alternate colour between scenes. When SpongeBob talks to the blue woman within the red get dressed, the fish within the background trade colours from blue to inexperienced to red. When Patrick says "Don't worry about him, SpongeBob," the fish turns back to inexperienced. In the bathroom, when SpongeBob first opens the stall door, Patrick's mirrored image does now not transfer. SpongeBob's missing pores but his pores can be observed in his reflection. For a break up 2d when SpongeBob starts yelling "Patrick!", a majority of his holes are lacking. However, the reflection on the floor has holes.
